Many people will remember the confusion surrounding the 2023 municipal elections, when British nationals in particular were given a very limited window to register to vote and faced a complicated process involving multiple forms and deadlines. While the process should be smoother this time around, it is vital that we do not become complacent.
Foreign residents are an important part of the local community, and it is essential that we exercise our democratic right to vote in local elections. Our voices matter, and participation helps ensure that the concerns and interests of the international community are properly represented.
Being included in community events and celebrations is positive, but genuine representation also means having a voice in decisions that affect daily life in Manilva — from infrastructure and public services to planning, environment and local investment.
To help residents better understand the process, we have launched this website and social media project called “Manilva Extranjeros 2027”.
The aim of the initiative is to provide clear and practical information about how local elections in Spain work, who is eligible to vote, how to register on the electoral census, important deadlines, and the voting process itself.
